I want to share some tips that helped me pass nursing school. I know it can be stressful, but you've got this! I just wanted to tell you what worked for me.
The first thing to remember is the 1:3 rule: for every hour in class, expect to study for 3 hours outside of class. I tried to study at least an hour daily, even if it was just a little. That helped me keep up.
Another key aspect is to have a well-structured study plan. I would dedicate one hour to studying something specific, like heart failure or medications. This structured approach made my study sessions more manageable. Remember, it's okay if you can adhere to it perfectly; having a plan in place matters.
After each class, I combined my notes from the lecture and Power Point into one organized document. That helped me remember everything better.
Printing it out meant I always had my notes to review later on. Switching things up is also key. Different study methods kept me from getting bored, like writing notes on a whiteboard or studying with friends. Doing practice questions was helpful, too.
Please be sure to take breaks when you need them. Going for a walk or calling a friend helped me recharge and focus better when studying again.
Silence all those notifications - they're so distracting! I used an app to block certain websites and apps while studying. The best way to learn is to teach it out loud yourself.
Could you try explaining the material without your notes? If you can do that smoothly, you'll know you've mastered it.
You've got this, future nurse!
